We’re a somal diaspora center
SDC was established to strengthen the voice, visibility, and collective impact of Somali communities in the United
States and across the wider global diaspora. The organization brings together professionals, youth, community
leaders, institutions, creatives, and strategic partners around a shared agenda: stronger leadership, stronger identity,
stronger networks, and stronger outcomes.
Somali Diaspora Center has received formal IRS recognition as a tax-exempt organization under Internal Revenue
Code Section 501(c)(3). According to the IRS determination letter, SDC is classified as a public charity under
Section 170(b)(1)(A)(vi), contributions are tax-deductible, the organization EIN is 41-3333220, and the effective
date of exemption is December 29, 2025

Organizational structure
The Board of Directors provides governance, fiduciary oversight, strategic direction, and policy accountability. The
Executive Director provides overall organizational leadership, strategy, partnership development, fundraising
oversight, and program direction. Program and support departments work across leadership development, cultural
diplomacy, diaspora engagement, community impact, communications, and finance.
